Dr. Athina Malagardi is a Lawyer of the High Court of Greece (Areios Pagos), with expertise in Individual and Collective Labour Law since 2000 and a Mediator of Collective Labour Law Disputes at the Organization of Mediation and Arbitration since 2011, providing high-level support in a variety of sectors at the Greek economy facilitating the collective bargaining and reaching multiple collective agreements.
She worked as the Senior National Consultant in the frame of the ILO project “Supporting the implementation of the roadmap on tackling undeclared work in Greece”, funded by the EU, (2019-2020) coordinating the project’s activities and assisting the tripartite Body of the Supreme Labour Council (ASE) on tackling undeclared work in Greece. From March 2016 to December 2018 she worked as the ILO, National Program Officer on coordinating two ILO technical cooperation projects, funded by the EU: first Phase (2016-2017) on “Supporting the transition from informal to formal economy” and second phase (2018) on “Supporting the implementation of the roadmap on tackling undeclared work in Greece”, both phases designed by the ILO in close cooperation with the Greek government and the national social partners and the ILO project, funded by the EU, and the ILO project on “Strengthening the Labour administration system and its delivery capacity in Greece”. Furthermore, for two years (2009-2011) she served as legal advisor to the Greek Minister of Culture and Tourism and for four years (2003-2007) as an expert consultant to the Greek Parliament.
Dr. Athina Malagardi holds a PhD and a LLM on Labour and Employment Law from the Faculty of Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Law Degree from the same Law School.
She speaks fluent English, French, Italian, Spanish and German (the Greek language is her mother tongue), she participates as speaker in many national and international conferences and congresses. She has been collaborated with world top 100 University of Sheffield, UK and the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin (ITC-ILO) and she has published many articles and monographs in the field of Labour and Employment Law.
